Pro League chooses MG as innovative car partner

To support the sustainability ambitions of Belgian football, Pro League and media partner Eleven Sports are entering into a partnership with MG. The British-Chinese car manufacturer shares our passion for innovation and makes an important contribution to a greener fleet.

Since its entry into the partnership in 2019, MG has been developing its network in the European market. The car manufacturer combines innovation and a sleek design with sustainability and affordability. With these traits, MG succeeded in convincing big football brands, including Liverpool FC and Olympique Lyon, as well as consumers.

Last year, the innovative car brand tripled its sales. To achieve this, MG relied on just two budget-friendly cars: a plug-in hybrid SUV (E-HS) and a fully electric car (ZS EV). Since then, the manufacturer has also launched the luxurious Marvel R Electric.

This year, MG is reinforcing its status as an innovative car brand with the introduction of the MG 5 Electric. This unique and high-tech model will be the first fully electric-powered estate car in Europe from MG, which allows the practical family car to run on green energy.

The Pro League shares the concerns for the next generations and, therefore, endorses MG’s efforts to reduce CO2 emissions. From now on, sustainable development will play a central role in our partnerships.

Leander Monbaliu, Chief Business Officer of the Pro League: The Pro League aspires to distinguish itself through innovation, as we do, for example, in our collaboration with Eleven Sports. We consciously choose innovative partners. Therefore, the Pro League is proud to call MG its official car partner. In addition, MG contributes to a cleaner car fleet and, therefore, clean air. That is important for that other cornerstone of Belgian football: the football players of the future.”

Catherine Free, Head of Sales & Marketing Belux: “Sustainability is central to MG. Therefore, our brand is fully committed to new technologies that take into account the ecological footprint. The partnership with the Pro League is logical for us as MG Europe also focuses on football in terms of sponsorship. As the official car partner, MG will be responsible for the entire fleet of the Pro League and is pleased that the Pro League clearly draws the green card.”

Guillaume Collard, CEO Eleven Sports: “As the exclusive media partner of the Pro League, we initiate and support innovative partnerships. The collaboration with MG fits perfectly into this ambition to innovate. For every company, also within the media, it is a challenge to subscribe to a strategy around sustainable development. That is why we are particularly pleased to enter into this partnership with MG.”
