RFC Seraing has assured itself of an extended stay in the Jupiler Pro League. A draw (0-0) against RWDM - runner-up in the 1B Pro League - in the return sufficed, after 'Les Métallos' had won the away game in Molenbeek last week.

RFC Seraing had the best chance to stay in the Jupiler Pro League before kick-off. Georges Mikautadze's goal made the difference against RWDM in the first match (0-1). In a sold out Pairay stadium, RFC Seraing kept the Brussels side at 0-0.

Last season, RFC Seraing returned to the highest division for the first time since 1995-1996. The Liège club had won promotion the previous season as vice-champions in 1B (after R. Union SG). On its return to the Jupiler Pro League, RFC Seraing finished 17th, so that salvation had to be achieved through a decider against RWDM.

Earlier on, KVC Westerlo secured promotion to the Jupiler Pro League by taking the title in the second tier. K. Beerschot V.A., as red lantern, disappears from the Jupiler Pro League and goes down to the 1B Pro League.
