On Wednesday, the European Football for Development Network (EFDN) announced the 5 nominees for the #MorethanFootball award. The award honours the best community and social responsibility (CSR) initiative in European football.

The Pro League is proud and honoured that its national partnership with Younited Belgium has been nominated for EFDN's #MorethanFootball award shortlist. A European recognition for a partnership that uses the power of football to empower vulnerable people and help them find their way back into society.

Younited Belgium is a social organization that uses football for the reintegration of adults struggling with issues such as housing, mental health, wellbeing, poverty or addiction. They refer to their players as experts in daily survival. The positive approach of strength and encouragement is key to their philosophy.

The Pro League believes that the partnership with Younited Belgium is unique in Europe, because of its impact on society and the National level of Football in Belgium. Under the umbrella of the National partnership, local Younited Teams are being developed at various Pro League clubs that really make a difference for vulnerable groups to help them reintegrate into society.

The Pro League, with its strong partnership with Younited Belgium, has a nice list of selected candidates. The other nominees are: Club Brugge, Borussia Dortmund, Legia Warsaw and Malmö FF. The Pro League congratulates the other candidates and gives a special mention to the Club Brugge Foundation, with their Community work at European top level.

The winner of the award will be announced during the EFDN online conference to be held from 9 to 11 November. The 5 contenders will be able to present their social projects and initiatives. After all five presentations, the attending EFDN members will choose the winning organisation.

Clubs, Leagues and FAs can register for the conference here.
